The need for DMS
Why every growing temple needs a system
Donor relationships and data are among a temple's most valuable assets. DMS protects them — and the fundraisers who build them.
The case for DMS
- Securing the fundraiser's interests
- Avoiding manual data entry
- Big temples have already started taking advantage of systems
- Donor details are an intellectual property of the temple
- The system is scalable
Securing the fundraiser's interests
Your fundraisers are protected
DMS is built so the people who bring in donations are never at risk of losing their relationships or their credit.
Is a fundraiser's contact secure?
Yes — a fundraiser's contacts stay with them and are not exposed to others.
What if someone else receives a donation from my donor?
It still goes into your account. Attribution follows the fundraiser, not who keyed it in.
Who counts as the fundraiser?
The one who successfully receives a fund from someone for the first time.
Can the fundraiser be changed?
Only two authorities can change it: (1) the Donor, and (2) TMC approval.
How does a fundraiser get their donor data?
Login from a mobile phone with OTP and download an Excel file instantly.
Roles & responsibility
DMS is Fundraising — not the Accounts Team
A clear separation of duties keeps the system honest and the audit clean.
- The accounts team needs training on DMS.
- DMS shall be considered part of Fundraising, not the Accounts Team.
- Accounts is primarily responsible for audit, review and reconciliation across all departments including DMS.
- The Reception team has started entering all data in DMS (earlier handled by volunteers).
- The DMS Team can hence maintain DMS and take full responsibility.
